Returning Soon, And I need a drink, And so do some of you.
According to Statistics Canada, hundreds of thousands of Canadians have no friends. I’d like to officially change that for those of you needing someone to drink a beer with, especially if you bring the beer. Been offline lately buying a new house in Texas that is several miles closer to Canada. Back soon with a thirst. Cheers.
There’s a rumor (which I am starting right now) that I will be the Guest Host responsible for next week’s tweets by Celebrate Nova Scotia! I’ll spend the week discussing a revisionist perspective of the 1629 Siege of Baleine.
Not really. But odds are my reporting from the tourist perspective will have quite a few things to say about NS beer. Be sure to check out @CelebrateNS and look for my posts starting on Sunday!
Tip of the hat to The Old Monk in Dallas. A place smart enough to carry Unibroue beers should be smart enough to teach the wait staff how to pronounce the names. Most people in Dallas try to read Unibroue beer names in some sort of Spanish. They get pretty close on Trois Pistoles. I have yet to hear a single person in Texas correctly pronounce Maudite.
As a public service, I present the following Unibroue videos on three of their popular beers. Listen for about ten seconds and you’ll hear the actual pronunciation of the name!

I had a great time this morning chatting with Erin Trafford of Maritime Morning Weekend Edition. If you aren’t listening to All News Radio 95.7, clearly you need to consider checking out other options on your dial. Not in Halifax, Moncton or St. John? That’s no excuse, they broadcast live on the internet.
I was invited to chat about my efforts to bring better beer to Texas. Slowly the word is getting out. Patience friends, good things come to those who wait.
Hoping my Canadian friends can recommend some of the great microbreweries in Canada. I’ll do my best to obtain one of their brews somehow and then feature it on the site. Help me bring a bit more of Canada to Texas.
When I was recently interviewed by Vincenzo Ravina I had no idea what a fun piece he was writing for The Coast. I also had no idea what a great response I would receive from the article. Quite a few folks in Canada and in Texas have reached out to express their support. The good news - I am not alone! Apparently there is a small army of people in Texas who want to be able to buy Canadian beer here with the ease. Thanks to Vincenzo, The Coast and everyone else who supports the goal.
Hiked in the Sabino Canyon today in Tucson Arizona. I couldn’t find Keith’s in Arizona either, but at least I could wear their branded clothing to promote a fine beer that has been brewed since 1820.
Traveling in Arizona this week. What a nice surprise to find Trois Pistoles here in the desert.
Oh yeah, the Texas thing.
I suppose I need to start making more friends in Ontario…
